DBDMH is a cheap and convenient alternative to NBS (N-bromosuccinimide) for example for the bromination of Electrophilic bromination of electron rich aromatics, Transacetalation of dithianes to diethyl acetals, Dithiolanes to gem difluoro compounds, Bromofluorination of alkenes, Epoxidation, Benzylic Halogenation, Arene to haloarene etc. DBDMH has the advantages of high active Bromine content, stable storage, economy than other brominating agent
Besides, it could be used as sterilization and algae killer to industrial circulating cooling water, as disinfectant to water bodies of aquaculture and swimming pool, and as disinfectant to environments of hotel, hospital etc public places.
