MAIN GOAL
The Piraru Ecological Station
main goal is to preserve the
Pirarucu fish, through its
reproduction in captivity. It will
use special techniques on
reproduction, in laboratory,
which make possible to raise
more than one hundred times
the amount of alevins by
position. In natural habitat, out
of each 8,000, only 5 or 10
reach adult age. The couples
will be in individual tanks, in
